Welcome to version 1.6 of Quicknames for Newton
First of all I want to thank all the current users of Quicknames who have sent encouraging
comments and have acted as a catalyst for its continued evolution.
This upgrade includes:
* Folder filtering
* Display of contact number type
* Instant popup display and dialling of other defined contact numbers
* More standard Keyboard
I recommend you install the Quicknames guide book and read it.
Quicknames provides a faster search engine for the Names app and will (hopefully)
streamline the way you use Newton.
Quicknames installs as an autopart in your Newton (so it won’t appear in the extras
draw). To launch Quicknames just tap on the upper half of Newton’s built-in names
button. The built-in Names app can still be launched by tapping the lower half of the
button.
Setting the built-in names app to view “All names” will ensure quicknames can open all
entries.
Once Quicknames is open you can enter the search string by tapping on the keyboard,
writing directly into the entry box or selecting a folder. Searches are performed as each
character is entered.
Tapping on the resulting name will take you to the corresponding card in the built-in Names
app. Tapping on the phone number will dial it through the speaker. Tapping on the contact
number type will show the other numbers.
All care has been taken to ensure it won’t break your Newton however #insert <standard
disclaimer here>.
Quicknames is my gift to the Newton Community and is FREE to give away. All I ask is that
you let me know what you think and to ensure the bookreader documentation and this readme file
is distributed with it.
I hope you find quicknames useful.
Enjoy!
